Your Supplements Can’t Do a Thing From Inside the Cabinet
The Brazen Team · September 30, 2026

Let’s be honest about the most common supplement routine in America: buy the bottle, feel great about buying the bottle, put the bottle in a cabinet, forget the bottle exists. Three weeks later you find it behind the cough syrup and feel vaguely guilty.
No shame. Remembering one small thing every single day is genuinely hard, especially when it doesn’t make a noise, send a notification or demand to be fed. The good news? Consistency isn’t a personality trait. It’s a setup. Here’s how to build one.
Stop relying on your memory
Your brain is busy. It’s tracking meetings, groceries, that email you still haven’t answered and whether you left the straightener on. Asking it to also remember two capsules at a random time each day is asking a lot.
So don’t. The trick to a routine that sticks is to take the decision out of the moment, so the habit happens because of where you are and what you’re doing, not because you happened to remember.
Habit stacking: attach the new thing to an old thing
Habit stacking is the idea of linking a new behavior to a habit you already do on autopilot. The phrase was popularized by author James Clear, and the formula is refreshingly simple:
After I [current habit], I will [new habit].
The existing habit becomes the trigger. You already brush your teeth, make coffee and plug in your phone every day without thinking about it, so let those moments do the reminding for you. A few that work well:
- After I start the coffee maker, I take my capsules with a glass of water.
- After I pour my breakfast smoothie, I stir in my collagen.
- After I sit down at my desk, I take my supplements before opening my inbox.
- After I plug my phone in at night, I take whatever’s on my evening shelf.
Pick an anchor that happens at the same point in your day, every day, including weekends. “After lunch” is a little slippery. “After I pour my first cup of coffee” is rock solid.
Make it impossible to miss
Out of sight really is out of mind. If you have to open a door, move three things and read a label to take your supplement, some mornings you just won’t. The fix is a visual cue: put the bottle where your anchor habit happens.
- Coffee people: right next to the mugs.
- Smoothie people: beside the blender.
- Desk people: on the desk, next to your water bottle.
- On-the-go people: in a small pill case that lives in your bag.
One caveat: visible doesn’t mean anywhere. Most labels ask you to store supplements in a cool, dry place, so skip the windowsill in full sun, the spot right next to the stove and the steamy bathroom shelf. And if there are kids or pets in the house, keep bottles closed and out of their reach. Visible to you, not to the toddler.
Use the tools that do the remembering for you
A weekly pill organizer
Filling a seven-day organizer on Sunday turns seven daily decisions into one weekly one. It also answers the eternal 9 a.m. question: “Wait, did I already take it?” If Tuesday’s compartment is empty, you did.
A simple tracker
A paper calendar on the fridge and a pen works surprisingly well. Put a check on each day you take your supplement. After a week or two you’ll have a little streak, and a streak is weirdly motivating. Nobody wants to be the one who breaks it.
A phone reminder, used sparingly
Alarms are great while you’re building the habit. Set one for your anchor time, then try turning it off after a few weeks and see whether the stack holds on its own.
Never run out (the sneakiest habit killer)
Here’s a routine-wrecker nobody talks about: the empty bottle. You finish it, you mean to reorder, life happens, and suddenly two weeks have passed and the habit has quietly dissolved.
A few ways to avoid the gap:
- Reorder when you open your last week’s worth, not when the bottle is empty.
- Keep one backup in the pantry for the products you take every day.
- Subscribe. A subscription delivers the next bottle on a schedule, so the refill shows up before you run dry. Brazen’s Subscribe & Save works exactly this way, and you can skip, change or cancel anytime.
Missed a day? Here’s the whole plan
Take your next serving at your usual time and carry on. That’s it.
Don’t double up to “catch up” unless your label or your healthcare professional tells you to. Serving sizes are set per day for a reason, and more isn’t automatically better.
More importantly, don’t let one missed day turn into a missed week. The all-or-nothing voice (“Well, I blew it, might as well stop”) is the real enemy here, not the missed day itself. A helpful rule of thumb: missing once is an accident; missing twice is the start of a new habit. Get back on it the next morning and the streak is basically intact.
Keep it small enough to be easy
If you’re starting several new things at once, you’re more likely to drop all of them. Start with one supplement and one anchor. Once that’s automatic, stack the next one onto it. A routine that fits into thirty seconds of a morning you already have will outlast any elaborate plan that requires a new version of you.
Wellness without apology means you’re allowed to make this easy. Easy is the point.
Where Brazen fits
We designed our capsules around simple routines: two capsules, once a day, with a clear serving printed right on the label. If you’re looking for a first habit to stack onto your morning coffee, Brazen Sea Moss Capsules are an easy place to start. Put the bottle by the mugs and let your coffee do the remembering.
